Turtley chilled

Another beach day, oh yes. With one distinction – it was at Turtle Point. Where – jammily, as we later came to appreciate – we arrived just in time to find a group of three or four just off the beach, attracted by food bought from locals for the purpose and distributed by tourists.

We went in snorkelling, and could immediately see that the water was far clearer, and the fish more brightly coloured and abundant than we’d seen on previous days. We headed over to where the turtles had been fed, and were lucky enough to find ourselves swimming with one. Strange beasts they are. Excellent swimmers though, those big flippers working away like oars.

And that was about it for today, in truth. We did try visiting a batik factory, where Virle was keen to see the production in progress, but sadly they proved to be on holiday today. And tomorrow, for that matter, which scotched our plans for a return. Which is a shame, because we’d decided to extend our stay here for a day. Beach life is suiting us just fine!
