Perhaps telling that the most interesting image I can come up with is of the egg & banana roti I had for lunch. It’s been that kind of day.
Really not too much to say about it. We had planned to go to the National Park, flying solo, and see where we got to with the aid of an app, GPS, and a destination of sorts (which in truth we had no great confidence in reaching), but all came to naught when we arrived at the entrance to be told that the park was closed today due to an invasion of elephants, and elephant babies. So that was that – the main reason we’d come here in the first place, comprehensively scuppered.
Making a virtue of necessity, we came back to the room, and Virle read up on Bangkok and beyond, while I finished off yesterday’s enthralling tale of derring do and did a bit of general blog housekeeping.
When I suggested lunch, V said she was sticking with our national park Plan A: chocolate bikkies, plus bananas filched from breakfast. Whereupon I headed up the road in search of something a tad more substantial, settling for an egg & banana roti, with all the trimmings: a tasty balanced meal, and all for the princely sum of 40 baht.
After lunch, slightly at a loss – there’s really nowt to do round here other than the aforementioned park – we decided to head down to the river for a swim and a bit of sun. Which we did. And very nice it was too. Only slightly marred…me to V: “You know those fish you told me the French woman told you about? The ones that bite you? One just bit me.”
Jellyfish, mossies, now bleedin’ fish. Why is it always me? 😢
(Then again, putting things in perspective, snake man yesterday told me that last year wild tigers killed 14 people in Thailand. So it could be worse.)
