Bit of a cheat…

Sunset Beach, Koh Rong Sanloem island, Cambodia

…in that the pic comes from sunset yesterday. Necessary because for the first time on this entire trip I haven’t taken a single photo today. It’s been a quiet one.

The night wasn’t that quiet: we were woken in the small hours by a torrential downpour, leaving us quaking in our hut under our rush roof, wondering if we’d remain dry. We did of course. I suspect it’s not just rushes. Anyway, whatever it is did the job and we drifted off again, ready for the closing stretch of another 10 hour sleep.

To be supplemented by further dozing in the daytime. It’s weird: we can’t be tired – not after that much sleep – but you lie down on the beach, close your eyes for just a minute, and next thing you know you’re coming round blinking  with sand sticking to the drool. “You’ve been snoring.” Ah. Well thanks for letting me know.

Apart from the odd snooze, it’s been another day of reading, swimming, snorkeling. We did try a bit of yoga – trying to ease V’s hamstrings and my Achilles in particular – but gave up after five minutes when Virle got tired of my bitching about how I was getting molested by the mossies.

Now we’re chilling at the restaurant – only wifi in town, and even then it’s flakey as hell. Then dinner, and then we’ll doubtless have another crack at the cribbage, though I hope my luck improves. Last three games I’ve been skunked, beat, and beat again. Last night Virle laid the fourth seven while running, for 12 points, twice. Something that happens once in a blue moon, in consecutive games. If it happens again tonight, I may cry.
