A day dominated by jet-lag, in truth. Though we did make it up the KL Tower, with amazing views over this weird, futuristic landscape, and paid a visit to Chinatown and its market – slightly underwhelming, with stall after stall all selling the same tat, none of it at all interesting or remarkable. If you want a fake Rolex or a pair of ‘Adidas’ trainers, this is the place to be.
I think we’re both slightly taken aback by how ‘normal’ it mostly seems, after the inyerface foreignness that greeted us when we first hit Hanoi this time last year. Doubtless things will get more exotic when we leave the big smoke. In the meantime, it’s a nice enough place to chill for a bit, shake off the last of the jet-lag, and prepare ourselves for the adventures to come.
PS 19,648 steps today apparently. How galling!
